The Unplugged Learning Project Mission
Jan 24th, 2009 by admin
The Unplugged Learning Project, a collaboration of the Avon Public Schools and the Avon Land Trust, endeavors to promote nature-based learning, environmental stewardship, pedestrian travel and outdoor recreation, for purposes of improving and enriching the education of our children, and the quality of life for all residents.
Our goals will be achieved through:
Ø Education: making the case for nature-based education and recreation for children, and for all residents to connect with their natural surroundings
Ø Promotion: maintaining, publicizing and increasing use of existing spaces, e.g. trails, parks, outdoor classrooms and open space
Ø Creation: of new trails, parks and outdoor classrooms.
The Unplugged Learning Project is a platform for delivering school curricula in a compelling and lively way; for facilitating voluntary life-long learning; for inspiring outdoor recreation, pedestrain travel, and land stewardship; and for connecting residents of all ages to the natural environment and to each other. It is a platform from which other outdoor and nature-based initiatives will spring.
The Avon Land Trust is a major sponsor of The Unplugged Learning Project.
