This is a wonderful project and very necessary. I am a professional writer, nature poet, college prep tutor, and UofH adjunct professor, with my family in Avon for many generations. I plan to attend the March 26 meeting. This project meshes nicely with something that I have recently volunteered to do: help to promote and organize (including some fundraising) the renovation of Countryside Park, probably on a weekend in August. This facility is very popular and self-supporting and pretty heavily booked for a variety of events year round. It strikes me as an important component of Avon's approach to Unplugged Learning, not only for the swimming (the water is tested and fine) but access to the vast trail system across the street, and did you know that you can easily walk from there to the town-owned land on the Farmington River? If you want to assist with this renovation you may e-mail me at college_prep@comcast.net

I am totally plugged in....to the great outdoors. This latest storm has made sledding a blast. Ask the Killer B jump king, Ralph Cardia.
Taking it easy, or making sport; rain, snow and shine - have a ball.
Keep up the good work.

Great video. I admit my family has nature deficit disorder. The four of us rented a canoe and we were all arguing about where to turn, how to turn, etc. We eventually had to get coached in by the staff of the canoe shack using megaphones.

Imagine that. And I was a Girl Scout and loved my outdoor time growing up: biking, hiking, swimming, exploring.

Thanks Avon Land Trust for putting forth this initiative. Seeyou on the 5th!

Hello Avon Land Trust Members,

This is a phenomenal and timely concept to incorporate into our schools' curriculum, especially as we watch valuable programs and staff be carved out of our BOE operating budget. We need to begin to think outside the box (school buildings) and get back to nature! So many of life's most important lessons happened in our own backyards!

I believe you should send the flyer for the March 5 event out as an email through the BOE's list serv to every student/family in the school district. I am looking forward to attending.

Thanks so much for your inspiration and energy!
